If you have received a traffic ticket, your mailbox will be overflowing
with ugly letters from lawyers attempting to scare you into retaining their services,
whether you really need them or not.
If these letters have left you with questions about whether you do need a
lawyer under your circumstances, you can send an email describing those circumstances,
and include the statute
number of the violation written on the ticket.
In your email, briefly describe your driving record, specifying the number and
kind of tickets received in the last five years.
While my practice has not focused solely in this area, I have gained a great
deal of experience within it over sixteen years – having appeared in dozens of
municipal courts, more than one-hundred times.
When a lawyer is needed for traffic, shoplifting, and disorderly-person charges,
it most often comes down to working out a deal with the prosecutor, in his or
her office. In this kind of backroom negotiation, the arresting officer is often
standing by and providing input regarding the circumstances of the offense, quite
likely relating to your behavior and attitude at the time of the traffic stop.
In such circumstances, it is a good thing for your advocate to be personally
invested in presenting you in the best possible light and getting you the best
available deal; this is especially so, when the authorities might be otherwise
inclined, going in. They can tell whether one is really trying his best for the
client, and this effort is sometimes is honored, making for a better outcome
than would otherwise have come about. It has even happened several times that,
after going to bat for a client behind closed doors and obtaining a good result,
I have had prosecutors and/or cops say: “your client should really thank you
for this,” or words to that effect.
If it should come to a trial, I have handled some twenty full-scale trials
in the Superior Court, more complex and demanding than municipal court proceedings.
Thus, even if you face a more serious charge such as DUI, I can capably handle
this on your behalf. Please feel free to email me with any questions, or to set
up a free initial consultation.
